Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2023, one of Indonesia's largest automotive exhibitions, returns to introduce the latest innovations in the automotive world. This prestigious event has become a highly anticipated platform for car manufacturers, automotive enthusiasts, and the general public to explore the diverse range of vehicles and advanced technologies offered by the automotive industry.
It is worth noting that the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2023 will carry the main theme of "Future Now." This theme was chosen to represent the future of Indonesia's automotive industry, which is currently transitioning towards electrification.
Yohannes Nangoi, the Chairman of the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo), stated that Gaikindo continues to support the acceleration of the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) industry in line with the government's initiatives. He also believes that through continuous education and information provided by GIIAS to the public, the target of developing the BEV industry can be achieved faster.

List of Electric Cars at GIIAS 2023
1. Chery Omoda BEV
PT Chery Sales Indonesia has confirmed the presence of one of its product lines, the Chery Omoda 5 pure Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2023. However, it should be noted that the Omoda 5 BEV's appearance at the exhibition is only for reference to Chery customers and has not been officially launched to the public. According to Rifkie, a representative from PT Chery Sales Indonesia, they have not yet determined the price range for the Chery Omoda 5 BEV as further research is still needed.
2. Seres E1
The Seres E1 is a compact electric car with dimensions of 3.030 mm in length, 1.495 mm in width, 1.640 mm in height, a wheelbase of 1.960 mm, and a ground clearance of 135 mm. The car is predicted to be a competitor to the Wuling Air EV in the Indonesian market.
Previously, the Seres E1 was introduced at the Periklindo Electric Vehicle Show (PEVS) 2023 held in May. However, as of now, there is no certainty about the price of the Seres E1, even though the booking process has started. DFSK plans to utilize the moment of GIIAS 2023 to announce the official price of the electric car.

3. MG ZS EV
Morris Garage (MG) shows its seriousness in facing the competition in the Indonesian automotive industry by releasing a new car at GIIAS 2023. After the successful launch of the MG4 EV, they will reintroduce their electric vehicle lineup as another option for consumers.
Arief Syarifuddin, the Marketing & PR Director of MG Motor Indonesia, explained that MG plans to introduce the latest electric vehicles to the Indonesian market at GIIAS 2023. However, there is no further information about the specific model of the car to be introduced at the event. Nevertheless, there are rumors that the electric car to be unveiled is the MG ZS EV, equipped with a 50.3 kWh battery capable of covering a range of up to 400 kilometers.
4. Honda CR-V e:HEV & Honda HR-V e:HEV
PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) has made thorough preparations to face GIIAS 2023. During the event, HPM will be showcasing the latest models and features under the theme "Energize to Accelerate." Honda also stated that they will be presenting cutting-edge technologies in electrification, connectivity, and safety. Furthermore, it is important to note that Honda's decision to bring several electrified vehicle models to Indonesia aligns with their global commitment to achieving 100% electric vehicle sales by 2040.
At GIIAS 2023, Honda will be introducing several environmentally friendly models, including hybrid and electric vehicles. However, the manufacturer has not officially disclosed the complete list of electric vehicle models to be showcased. On the other hand, there are many speculations indicating that Honda is likely to showcase the Honda CR-V e:HEV and Honda HR-V e:HEV models.
5. ORA Good Cat
Great Wall Motors (GWM) will be participating in the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2023. As a Chinese company, they will be bringing several brands, including ORA.
For information, ORA is an electric vehicle brand known for its retro style. It is predicted that the electric vehicle to be exhibited at GIIAS 2023 will be the Good Cat model. Previously, this vehicle has already been present in the markets of Malaysia and Thailand. In Thailand, the ORA Good Cat electric car is priced starting from 828,500 baht or approximately Rp 357.8 million for the base variant, while the top variant reaches 1,286,000 baht or approximately Rp 555.7 million.
6. EX30 and C40 Recharge
Volvo will be launching several cars at GIIAS 2023, most of which are electric vehicles. In this showcase, a total of 5 cars will be presented, consisting of Plug-in Hybrid and Pure Electric models.
Based on information available on the official Volvo Indonesia website, the three Plug-in Hybrid models include the XC90 Recharge starting from Rp 1.8 billion, the XC60 Recharge sold at Rp 1.36 billion, and the XC40 Recharge with a price tag of Rp 995 million. As for the electric vehicles, the models likely to be showcased are the EX30 and C40 Recharge.
7. EQS-SUV and EQS Edition One
Mercedes-Benz is finally making a comeback at GIIAS 2023. The German car manufacturer has confirmed its plans to launch the latest electric-based products at the event. It is known that Mercedes-Benz will introduce the EQS SUV, a car that is not a conversion from the GLB model to electric, but rather a vehicle entirely designed from scratch as an electric car.
Additionally, there will be the EQS Edition One model, which has undergone some design changes and will be produced in limited quantities. It is predicted that Mercedes-Benz will showcase two models: the EQS450 and the EQS580. Both of these models are part of the Mercedes-Benz EQ electrification family and represent the first electric SUVs they are introducing.
